HISTORY OF CRG-SAF, PNP
Pursuant to General Orders No. 1 HSAF, the Special Operations Battalion (SOB), the forerunner of the Crisis Response Group (CRG), was activated on 01 January 1993. It was organized in the face of the growing threat posed by the local and international terrorists and organized crime groups. It was then composed of six (6) line companies, namely, the Anti-Terrorist Company (ATC), the Rapid Search and Rescue (RASER), Light Armor Company (LAC), the Canine Company (K-9), and Headquarters Service Company (HSC). On 15 December 1997, by virtue of General Orders No. 262, HSAF, the Special Operations Battalion was renamed Crisis Response Group (CRG). As an added capability, the CRG can conduct tactical operations such as long range reconnaissance and interdiction behind enemy lines. |
Since its activation, this special unit has seen action in different parts of the country, specifically Basilan, Davao, Cagayan, Negros Island, and Luzon mainland. In many instances, the SOB or CRG has its presence felt by the community as well as by notorious organized and threat groups. By and large, CRG is capable of operating on land..., air..., and sea... under any type of terrain and weather conditions. Presently, the Special Action Force is headed by its director, COL. JOSE O. DALUMPINES. Likewise, the CRG is headed by its group commander, COL. BENJAMIN B. MAGALONG.
