The FERFRANS
SOAR is a 5.56mm caliber,
improved version of the M16A2 that is compact, lightweight, gas operated
shoulder weapon capable of semi-automatic and full automatic fire. There are
several versions of the SOAR rifle, SOAR 11
with a 11.5” barrel, SOAR 14 that
uses a 14.5” barrel and a suppressed version of both. Improvements that are
incorporated to the SOAR are: some chamber dimensions were changed to enhance
performance; modified extractor assembly to ensure extraction even with the use
of various local and foreign manufactured ammunition that the AFP uses; also
modified was its (SOAR 11 version) gas system in order to ensure reliability.
Top The FERFRANS
RRS (Rate Reduction System) is installed in the rifle.
This exclusive feature reduces the cyclic rate of automatic fire from 900 rpm to
500 rpm, enough to promote component longevity, controllability, and accuracy.
The slow rate of automatic fire allows the operator to fire 2 or 3 controlled
burst or full automatic fire with a simple controlled squeeze on the trigger
eliminating the need for tri-burst mechanisms. Top A Smith muzzle brake is used with
the standard SOAR. This muzzle brake eliminates muzzle climb and with its closed
bottom design, reduces dust signature when firing from a prone position. The
suppressed version of the SOAR uses a specialized muzzle brake compensator that
has screw threads at the exterior surface of the muzzle brake for quick
attachment of the Seberger Muzzle Brake Suppressor (MBS). The suppressor can be
attached and detached without the need of tools by simply screwing it in over
the MBS and screwing it out like a nut. Top The 7075T6 aircraft quality
aluminum receivers are precision-machined from forgings, for maximum strength.
The upper receiver is a Picatinny rail flattop and the rifle includes all M16A2
design improvements including cartridge case deflector, last round bolt
hold-open and raised ridges for magazine-released button protection. The
A.R.M.S. rear sight is a flip-up version that when unlocked, will automatically
spring-up into position with the large aperture where it stays. The A.R.M.S.
rear sight has dual flip-up apertures: the short-range aperture (0-200 meters)
has a larger opening for better close-in reflex shooting and greater moving
target visibility. The smaller aperture was designed for maximum accuracy at
longer ranges. To prevent accidental movement of the windage adjustment knob, a
non-snag windage knob is used. Top FERFRANS SOAR uses
a dedicated Selective Integrated Rail (S.I.R.). Mounting rigidly onto the M1913
Picatinny rail on the flattop receiver, the SIR system extends forward to
provide its own continuous M1913 rail all the way to the gas block/front sight.
Used in conjunction with the flip-up rear sight the system provides the correct
height to mate with the standard M16 front sight. As the S.I.R. clears the front
of the upper receiver, it extends down around the barrel on either side of the
rail to form the top hand guard. Made of a strong aircraft alloy, the system is
not only totally rigid but does not touch the barrel. The S.I.R. system provides
perfect alignment between the receiver and all four mounting rails. Rigidly
attached to the S.I.R.’s upper hand guard portion via an interrupted rail is
the lower hand guard. It is made of an extremely strong indestructible
synthetic, in order to reduce weight. By simply unlatching the détentes the
hand guard is moved forward about one inch where it clears the rail sections and
drops off. In its place can be mounted the new enhanced M203 40mm grenade
launcher module, enhanced shotgun module, or other accessories, all which do not
contact the barrel. The S.I.R. free-floats the barrel therefore optimizing
accuracy with zero heat transfer and at the same time dissipating heat from the
barrel. This feature in conjunction with the reduced cyclic rate prevents the
rifle from overheating. The S.I.R. provides precise indexing points for the
mounting of a wide variety of tactical accessories without the use of tools.
Top Other improvements
incorporated in the FERFRANS SOAR is
a 6 position butt stock that will allow the operator to acquire a good
comfortable, efficient fighting stance. The front sight is equipped with a
self-luminous post that is visible even in low-light or no-light conditions. The
tritium inserts on the front sight post has a life of 12 years. Top The 7075T6 aircraft quality

BARREL
The 11.5”/14.5”
machine gun chrome-lined (bore and chamber) barrel comes with a rifling twist of
1 turn in 9 inches, allowing it to accommodate the entire range of 5.56mm
ammunitions currently used worldwide. A mil spec manganese phosphate outer
coating ensures complete protection against corrosion or rust on the barrel and
all other steel parts of the weapon. This barrel is manufactured to 1/2 the
tolerance of all other chrome plated production barrels. Top
